Philosophy of Education and Global Challenges

In an increasingly pluralistic, post-truth, post-reality and divided world, the question of what constitutes reasoned deliberation, and its relevance becomes critical. Furthermore, existential problems such as climate change, the ethical challenges of AI, populism, and general decline in ethical and reasoned discourse, sharpen the imperative to equip young people with the means and rationale to confront these issues thoughtfully and coherently.

Submissions are invited that explore the role of philosophical discussions in schools and higher education in addressing these existential issues. We welcome submissions that engage with philosophical issues in education, analyse contemporary educational theories and practices, or critique current policies from a philosophical perspective.

The 2025 PESA Conference will offer a vibrant platform for academic exchange and contribute to the evolving discourse on philosophy and education in the company of old friends and those new to PESA.
